Keith and Heather Fairchild found their idyllic riverside plot just a kilometre from their existing home, but buying it proved far from stress free. Nick and Danette Morrish have converted an ancient cart shed and mid-20th-century milking parlour into a single-storey bolthole. The new building imitates the corrugated iron cladding of the former cowshed. “Dorset is a popular holiday destination, so our plan was to convert the farm buildings to cottages to generate a rental income,” says Danette. Hoods has far-reaching views across the Marshwood Vale, which includes local landmark Colmer’s Hill.
